Why fight?

[warmup]
Think back to the shields you made yesterday. Knights left their family for years at a time to fight in a strange land. For what reasons did crusaders leave there home to fight in the in "Holy Land" (there are three of them). What would it take for you to leave your family, travel far from home, and fight in the army? Explain your answer using a full paragraph and if you wouldn't leave for anything explain that reasoning instead.

ALSO... make sure you have turned in the follow things: shield with reasons for knights fighting, what's feudalism (from last week), notes on Jerusalem, this weeks two posts on your blog.

  1. For me to leave my family it would have to be either for money or a life of death situation to leave and fight in a army. I am not good with pain so it would be not be a match for me to be in a army. I would be hiding somewhere the entire time. I would be a nuisance instead of a help. In conclusion I should not be near a war zone.

  4. They would leave for adventure, money, and forgiveness of sin.
I can't imagine leaving to fight in a war. I just can't even imagine it, I can't imagine any reason to leave and fight. I don't feel strongly enough about anything, not even if my family was all going to be killed. I don't feel like I'd do anything.

  5. I would honestly miss my family because I would be far away but I would fight til death but before I leave tell my family I love them

  6. Because before you could have an opinion on life, religion meant everything. If you can get a free ticket into heaven, go for it, man. You've lived a terrible life and now you can just hop on a free train. Kind of nice. You also get money and adventure, your name gets spread around town, lots of real life advantages too.
Or you could just be a sadist and really enjoy hacking off people's heads, you never know.

  7. Wealth, Adventure, and Forgiving sins or something like that. I would have to have a good reason and I would also want to know why we are fight the people, because if it's just for the fun of it I would not do it. I guess I would do it because of the Adventure and it might be fun to go and fight in a war even if there is the possibility I might die. - Chumani Wayd

  9. It really depends on how I felt about what we were fighting for, but most likely, no I would not leave my family to fight. Mostly because I can't fight at all, but also because I don't think I could leave my family.
I guess I really don't know for sure.

  10. 1. Adventure
    2. Personal Gain (Money)
    3. Forgiveness of sins

I think it would be a very difficult decision. It would be hard on both sides. For me, it would be dangerous and I would miss my family. It would be hard for them because they have no idea what's going and where I am.

  11. I would leave my family if they are trying to attacking our city. I would have to go if they made me if they were short of soldiers. I wouldn't really want leave to fight for the country.

  12. I wasn't here yesterday, but if I was going to war I would take my dog and all dogs things along with me so I can talk to someone. Also, I would bring knifes.

  14. They left for adventure, money and forgiveness of sins. I personally wouldn't go fight because I am not a huge religious type of person.

  15. I would leave my family. It would talk lots and lots of money. I would leave if they gave me anything I want. If they wouldn't give it to me then I would not go any where.

  16. They fought for money, adventure, and forgiveness. I would never fight in the army. They only way they would make me do it is if they guaranteed that I wouldn't die, I would get to see my family whenever I want, and I would get A LOT of money. Like millions of dollars. Also, they would have to let me quit whenever I wanted to and leave to do what I want to do whenever I wanted to.

  17. The 3 reasons why knights left their families are because of money, adventure, and forgiveness. You could never get me to leave my family. Nothing. I love my family to death. Yeah, they get on my nerves most of the time, but they are MY family and I love them. I would never leave them knowing I would never see them again. Plus, I would never fight in a army because I know I wouldn't survive the actual fight and training.

  18. Crusaders left their homeland to fight for the holy land because of adventure, money, and forgiveness. To leave my home and kill people would take way more than that. I'm not trying to be greedy or anything, but they'd have to give me enough so that i'd be set for life. That includes a metric whoreton of bagels. (:

  19. My three reasons for me to go cross the sea and fight would have to be me and my family getting extra money if the country that i am fighting for needs help and because they are asking me

  20. The knights of the crusades left to fight in order to get personal gain, adventure, and forgiveness from God.

For me, it would have to take a lot. I do not plan on joining the army at all really. I also am pretty sure that I wouldn't even be drafted because my feet have fallen arches. So yeah, it would take a lot. Money I suppose. But not just straight cash. I'm talking more about college scholarships and health care and free therapy. But really I can't imagine doing that. I know I will have to leave my family eventually, but not to go to war.

  23. The reason that would make me leave my family would be if they were to pay me and my family $1000 every week. Another way would be if I would be able to see my family whenever I wanted to. But I really wouldn't want to have to fight, because I wouldn't want to risk my life doing that type of stuff.

  24. The knights would leave home looking for wealth and honor. They also wanted to fight for what they wanted and thought was right. They had nothing going for them at home. Sometimes it would be difficult for someone to leave home, because they love their family and will miss them. Other times if their not happy at home and are looking for adventure they would love to leave.

  25. For me to leave my family and go far away and fight it would have to be best for my family. If my family was in danger i would go and fight for them. My family would have to be hungry and the only way to feed them is to go fight for money i would do it.

  26. I think the first reason is because they wanted to fight for forgiveness!. The second reason is because they wanted an adventure. Third reason is because they wanted to fight for what they believed in.

The only way I would leave my mom is if it was life or death like my mom was gonna die if I didn't go to war or something. I would do anything for my mom and if it was to save her I would be the first to get to war cracking and kill everyone!. I wouldn't care what happen to me as long as my mom was good then everything else would fall into place. That is the only way I would go and fight in the army! otherwise Im not going! :)
