What is a minaret used for?
What's unifiing about the Call to Prayer?
What's you impression of either the mosque or the city of Istanbul?
*Extra Credit: How many days of school have we had so far this year?
Once you finish the warmup you can get straight to work on reading and creating your bubble map based on Islam.

A Minarent is use for praying, or like a light house.
ReplyDeleteIt's used for praying which people pray five times a day in.
I think the mosque is a beautiful place it has great detail in the walls of the mosque. It also hs a great view from on top if the mosque. It seems really peaceful.
They talked about it being a watch tower, but now it's a podium for the call to prayer. They all pray at the same time five times a day calling out to other and ever one faces the same direction. I liked how beautiful the outside of the place is and how tall and amazing it all is.
ReplyDelete1. it's used to pray
ReplyDelete2. you have to claim up in a dark space where birds flying around you and your head.
3.
To call people in for prayer.
ReplyDeleteEveryone prays at the same time, and that's why prayer is Unifying.
I really like how even though the most is here today, they have kept it similar to how it's always been. The way that they have kept it similar is that they have not put in lights, keeping it the same that it has been since the 16 100's. I would also mention that they carried the women in her wheel chair up the stairs, but I don't exactly think that is right, but the idea is all there.
A minaret are used to tell everyone its time fore prayer.
ReplyDeleteThe call of prayer is its unuity. Everyone praying at the same time. Amazing. 5 times a day. Everywhere. That is cool. And I have been in school for 4 days :)
The minarets are used to call people to prayer.
ReplyDeleteThe unifying part of the call to prayer is that it happens at the same time simultaneously across the world, across all time zones. It all happens at the same time, it must be wonderful knowing that you along with half a million others across the world are praying in unison. It must be.
I feel that the city of Istanbul, and the mosque, are very... Hm, not mysterious, nor an enigma feeling more like... I don't know. Being in or seeing cities like those give you a relaxed and calm feeling. I don't really think there is an english word for it. Wonderbaar, maybe? A prachtig gevoel. I don't know.
97 days of school is left
ReplyDelete1. They were used for light and now they are used for sound.

ReplyDelete2. It's unifying because everyone does the same thing (cleanses), and faces the same direction (towards Mecca)
3. It seems very religious since the prayer goes throughout the country and they do it 5 times a day. They seem united in the prayer and it's very important to them.

ReplyDelete2.Everyone hears the sound at the same time and they all bow the same direction at the same time.
3.The noise is kinda annoying. I wouldn't like doing that I guess just because I don't support the religion.
the marinet is used to call everyone to prayer. back in the good old days, someone would climb to the top and basically just call.... with their voice. now they use loudspeakers. I think the unifying part about the call to prayer is that every muslim person does it, at the same time, facing the same direction. I think that really sends a powerful wave of energy towards mecca. Well I really like istanbul. I didn't really know much about it before a year or so ago. that's when I really started learning about its diversity and significance. It really is a bridge between east and west and I find that really intriguing
