[warmup]
Write a 200 words description of the Pillar of Islam you focused on in class on Friday. If you runout of ways to describe the pillar then write about how it is similar or dissimilar to another religion we have learned about in world history. Also repost your blog's web address.

After you finish your warmup bring up your Animoto video from Friday in another window (we'll be using it at 11:15).

  1. Believe: One God looking over everyone. Its really really really really really really really really really really awesome that there is only one God up way way way way way way way in the sky. Its so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so important that you know that the muslims believed in one God.

  3. I focused on the religious aspect of the five pillars. You must know the Koran, follow the rules given, believe in only one god, pray 5 times a day. God never truly speaks to you, but only through messages given by other heavenly beings such as the angel Gabriel.
Angels are gods messengers, and prophets are not exactly holy... More like the senders of holiness? I don't know. Anyhow, they believe that Satan is a creature made by human sin for human sin and makes you want to sin more. They believe in an ending day, or a last day.
    I'm Elsie btw

  5. The Pillar of Islam I worked on was fasting during Ramadan. During ramadan you were to only eat and drink after daylight hours. It is a time of reflecting, praying, and worshiping God.

  6. For Friday I did fasting. I never really got started on my animoto video, but I did get a lot of facts out of it. I learned that in the 9th month Islamic culture fast, which means they have no food, sex, or smoke. But they are able to do these things while the sun is down. This is one of the rules of the five pillars.

  8. I was doing mine on fasting. I think since they are fasting they shouldn't be able to eat. They can only eat at night. The can't smoke or have sex until night . They have to also pray five times a day. I think the islam people are like budhist people because they pray a lot and they are very holy.

  9. I learned about the pillar Zakat and that is when muslims give 2.5% of their earnings to the poor. This is similar to my religion when we have to give 20% of our earnings. I dont know what else i can really say to make this 200 words

  10. One of the pillars of Islam is fasting. I found out that when you fast you have to eat when the sun is down for a whole month. I also found out that when you are elderly, sick, or pregnant you are not allowed to fast. People also fast to show that they are dedicated to there god. It also creates hope for gods grace.

The pillar I focused on of the Islam's five pillars was pilgrimage. Pilgrimage is when a Muslim must go to the Mecca temple. This is called Haj. They must do Haj at least once in their lives. There they would pray and become pure and faithful to their religion, and may die in piece.
Millions of people are constantly visiting and praying outside and around the temple in unison. Some visit more than once in their lives to pray and be faithful to their god. This is a must to all Muslims that want to die peacefully and have a good after life.

  12. The fifth pillar of Islam is pilgrimage. A pilgrimage is a spiritual journey for who ever is taking one. In Islam, the people are supposed to take a pilgrimage to mecca at least once in their life time. This is usually during the 12th month on their calendar. Before entering mecca, the pilgrim dresses in 2 seamless white cloths. People who complete this pilgrimage earn the respectful title of ‘Hajji’. After that, there is a big feast that usually lasts three to four days. The ceremonies relate to Abraham and him building Kabaa, a sacred site with a mosque built around.

The pillar of the Five Pillars of Islam that I did my Animoto video on was Hajj (Pilgrimage). The Hajj pillar is all about going to Mecca at least once in your life. You don't have to go if you can't afford it of you are disabled though. Muslims are supposed to wear special clothing when you go there and the clothing is called Ihram clothing. Ihram clothing is made out of two white sheets. Also, when you go there, you are supposed to walk seven times around the Kaaba, touch the Black Stone, travel seven times between Mount Safa and Mount Marwah, and symbolically stone the Devil in Mina. After a man has traveled to Mecca he is known as a Hajj and after a woman has traveled to Mecca, she is known as a Hajja.
