[warmup]
Write about how you spent Presidents Day weekend. Try and mimic a blog entry where you connect what you did this weekend to yourself, your peers/school, and the world at large.

For example...
Presidents Day has always been one of my favorite holidays... But my love for this day has nothing to do with why it's named or its history(for the heroics of our presidents and put in February because of George Washington birthday). It actually has to do with getting out of school. I can still clearly remember having my birthday fall on Presidents Day and telling my classmates that we didn't have school because of MY Birthday.

This weekend I turned 29. It makes me feel old and instead of getting out of school I spent most of this presidents day grading and planning for school. ..... (etc. etc. etc.)

  5. I didn't do anything on president's day. I stayed at home because there was a snow day and i couldn't go any where. I never really cared about presidents day because my family never celebrated it. We always had the day off at school and never talked about presidents day the next day that we had school.

  6. I sent president day like any other day. I don't think you have to go all out and cook an have a party for presidents day. It's just and regular day and I do what I do every day except going to school.

  7. President's Day isn't really special for me. I don't much on President's Day anyway, so for me it's just an extra day for the weekend. All I did on President's Day was like any other day, I was on my computer most of the time and I shoveled snow for a while. I also watched a movie called Brazil, it was very interesting. I went on a tour of the Guthrie, it was also very interesting.

  9. I have always liked Presidents Day it's an awesome holiday, but I not only love the holiday because of the great history that we can learn, but the fact that it's normally falls on my birthday and I get to spend the day doing what ever I want, because I don't have to go to school. This year has been different then others... It was my Sweet 16 and I got to spend it with family and friends dancing and talking all night long. My dad took me out to dinner at Manny's steak house (that place is awesome) the food was great. I got this porterhouse steak and it just melted in my mouth it was so DELICIOUS. I remember my baked potato completely submerged in butter, sour cream and cheese ( my dad said I water-board it witch at first I didn't get) I said sorry to the potato and ate it. I was a pretty fun weekend.

Auugh who types like that? Anyway, my presidents day was pretty relaxing. I went to my japanese classes through some stressful and snow covered roads. I live in the basement, so the windows are covered about 1 1/2 feet high in snow. It's insane. We had to make this little road for us to walk through in the draveway, the snow around you rises up to my waist. I painted the bathroom doors in tile decorations. Now the vanity that we had in out bathroom is finally done. I spent the rest of the day alone reading a book called "The Behemoth" and then went on the computer. I made some cinnamon/butter/sugar/vanilla/oat combo and baked it in the oven to eat with yogurt. Then I found out we didn't have any yogurt so I ate it plain. My day was relaxing, pretty much.

  13. This weekend I didn't really do much. I hung out with my friends and we watched one of the original batman movies which was.... interesting. and then I just listened the the King of Limbs and that's just about it. I probably listened to the whole thing like six times or something. I also read a lot about Libya. it really really really sucks over there right now. I can't believe it really.

  14. I like presidents day because I get a day off from school. Otherwise I don't really care. I spent most of the weekend visiting family members and celebrating their birthdays. I don't really remember what else happened other than that.

  15. I spent Presidents Day at my cousins house in White Bear. It was snowing a lot on Presidents Day so we didn't go anywhere that day. All we did was play the Wii and watched movies. It was boring.

  16. President's day has never been important or significant to me. The only thing I ever am happy about when President Day is coming soon is that I have no school. Any holiday that get's me the day off is an epic holiday for me -even though I don't do anything-. My President's day weekend was probably one of the slowest and laziest day's of my life since all I did was sleep and stay home considering the awful weather.

  22. I spent presidents day in a van with 2 college students and 4 other high school students for eight hours (hella traffic) . Boring, I know. The rest of my weekend was a lot more exciting!

I spent a few hours of the day doing dishes, and cooking. I spent the rest of my time playing bananasgrams, sledding, going on hikes, and my favorite Playing with the 20 dog sledding dogs that Menogyn has!

The long bus ride was way worth it!

  24. During the Presidents Day weekend of 2011 I could be found just outside the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) at YMCA camp Menogyn. Menogyn was having a winter family camp. I went up to camp as a volunteer with the group MESS (Menogyn Environmental Service Squad). It was a small group, only six volunteers and one group leader.

During the weekend, did a colossal amount of dishes, cleaned, and shoveled. There was approximately sixty-five people in camp, which meant there was approximately 65 sets of dishes to do 3 times a day. We did not do as much cleaning as we would had done in the summer, partly because there was such a small number of us, and also because we beasted it out and cleaned really fast! We didn’t just do work, we also had a bunch of time to goof off and day dream about going on trail. We were able to go sledding, play games, and read past long trip journals.

They reason why I like going on these work weekends so much has to do a lot with my personality. I am a social person who finds joy in making a person’s day better that loves the outdoors.
