Reflecting on yesterday's discussion.

[warmup]
At least 24 hours have passed since our digital discussion on Christianity. Reflect (free-write) on the discussion from yesterday. You can focus on the content of the discussion, the process or both. If you were not here yesterday free-write about how you spent yesterday, what you think you might have missed and how you could catchup on what you missed.

[guiding questions]
How does bubbl.us work?
How did Christianity get its start?
How did it spread and what issues did early Christians face?
What are the core beliefs/teaching of Christianity?
How did Islam get its start?

How did it spread and what issues did early Islam face?
What are the core beliefs/teaching of Islam?

  1. Personally I'd write two paragraphs today... One on what you thought about the content of the discussion (what we talked about). The second on what you thought about the process of the discussion (how we talked about it).

  2. I thought that the conversation we had yesterday was very powerful. Different people had different thoughts about weather jesus is real or not, if the people who write all the bibles are making up things based on the earliest bible, and if praying for something really helps. I am not a christian but I believe in heaven and hell but there really is no proof that god is real or if praying does help. But even if it isn't real I will always believe in god.

  3. I think that it went well, but there was some people when they wrote they sound like we can have an opinion, I remember one time a person was say their own personal experience and another person said that she was wrong.

I like how we use live chat and we don't have to say things in person, because you get more judge on what you say in person then on a computer.

  6. I think the discussion went okay, people kind of got on my nerves but that was there opinion not mine so it doesn't really matter. I think it was good because we got to really have a debate.

  7. I liked the discussion we had yesterday. We were anonymous so we could speak our mind and how we feel about religion. I think we should have more discussions like that at least once a week.

  8. I thought the discussion was interesting. We got to hear peoples' opinions about religion and there were some arguments. The discussion was done in a cool, different way, we used the internet to discuss about religion. I think it's an interesting way to do it and hopefully, we'll do it again.

  9. I still don't know much about Christianity. The discussion yesterday was interesting and I was surprised to see how different opinion effected people when we were talking about Christianity.

  10. I think yesterday, our conversation was interesting, but not very productive. Everyone's opinion was interesting to hear, but these conversations usually go in circles on whether the bible story is wrong or true.

  11. Well, I liked the process, although since we were all in the same room it felt just a bit silly. I think it would be cool if we could do this discussion again, but next time have everyone move around the fourth floor, go to a quiet spot and chat from there. Now we can't even see any expressions, you can't hear anyone giggling, all that, it adds to the reality of the situation.
The content was my favorite part, by a long shot. It opens a window to what my classmates believe and to them what I believe in return. I find it a bit odd or... almost ignorant that the more religious people are so close minded towards just thinking of different possibilities. Even when people said they could care less they still tried to convince a handful of people that jesus DOES EXIST. NO MATTER WHAT. I also think that what they said was a bit rude towards the people who strived to save their lives. Doctors don't go to medical school for seven years of their lives to have their achievements handed to someone else. They gave them no credit, they said jesus saved them. I find that sad. Anyhow, I loved this. It was great, we need to delve deeper into this someday. I can't wait until we talk about religious wars.

  12. I spent my day eating girl scout cookies and watching T.V and listening to music. My day was pretty horrible though because I was sick and couldn't breathe out my nose and I had to take some nasty medicine that taste like poison. I am getting better I feel rejuvenated and ready to take on anything!.

  13. Well, I was not in this class yesterday. I am writing about what I did yesterday.

Yesterday, during this class I was skiing. The Fair School downtown Skied in the sections championships against some of the best people in our conference.

The meet was extremely cold!!! When we got to the place where we were racing, it was -8 degrees, but by the end of the day it warmed up to 0 degrees Fahrenheit.

The first race we skied was a 5K classic race. Did you know that "track" means "get off the track I'm either going to pass you, or run you over"? I didn't, and neither did the entire team. It would had been nice to know because a lot of girls got very mad at us. The classic was very difficult because of the ruff terrain, but also because classic takes up 20% more energy the Skate skiing.

We had a long break where we could get ready for the next race.

After our 1.5 hour break, we had our skate ski race, it went a lot better. (Out of time.)

  14. I think what we talked about got everyone to think and learn something new about someone in class. Whether they knew who they were talking to or not we all knew how someone in the class felt. I think it may have offended some people and other people may have just been intrigued by the thoughts of others.

i think the process of the discussion went very well and everyone Stayed engaged in what was going on. No one was being put down because of their opinions. With Mr. Hannan reviewing the comments before they were entered no one was able to flood the feed with any obscene comments. Overall i think yesterday went great and i would love to keep doing things like that

  15. I like the discussion we had yesterday about the C.S Lewis quote. I like how he had three questions and since some people that the answer was something different. So everyone had something to say about the quote. For some people the conversation was getting personal and people were getting upset.

  16. I think yesterday was a decent conversation although. Even though it didn't get deep enough as I was hoping it would it was still interesting to see what some people think and compare it to my own thoughts. I wish there was more deeper opinions than the obvious ignorance that many people go off by. Surprisingly there were people who agreed with me in some points which makes me happy that I am not a lone in my thoughts. Even though I would of still defended my point whether or not I was supported or hated for what I said.

  17. Yesterday I was at our ski race so I wasn't here. Our team went to Bakers Golf Course (I think that's what it was called) and we had to do one classic race and one freestyle race. We basically spent the whole time in the Chalet when we weren't racing. It was a lot of fun even though I got in 2nd to last place in both the races.

  18. Personally I thought that we should have done I circle group discussion because it seem like people was not able to give feedback on what someone said right away because it took Mr.hannan a long time that accept them all.It was hard to know who said it because people were changing names and things just got confusing.

  19. Hannan you saw , That today I had technical difficulties.. because the internet stopped working.

  20. Our class discussion yesterday was about religion. Then we started talking about Christianity and the differences between Christianity and the other religions. Then the discussion sort of changed because we started talking about Jesus and his existence. What I thought of the discussion was that it started off as boring at first, but when we got to the Jesus topic it got interesting to see what people had to say. Plus I kind of liked how people used anonymous names.

  21. I thought like it was a pretty good conversation yesterday. I don't quite remember what it was about though. I've been forgetting a lot of things that happen in class. I wish we had more debates though, it was fun. A lot of people didn't type though so that was a bummer.
I think it might have been awkward for people who aren't christian and who are. That's a good thing though (in a way). People need to understand other people, that way they know how to deal with them (or even question some things).

  22. - The discussion was really sucky. People were sort of off task . People were saying their comments out loud instead of typing them. It really just wasn't as great as the one before.
