1) That their an important part of human history, and that it shows how far we've come.
ReplyDelete2)Fights to the death, epic battles, death sentences, slaves fighting for freedom, all for other peoples entertainment. Like a movie.
3)Boxing, wrestling, movies.
They did different types of battles some were in the water, there was tigers and things like that. I thought that it was cool that it's still standing and hasn't been destroyed. If I got the chance I would want to go and see it. Well I believe that is where they did the Olympics and now we have different Olympics but they are just a little different because there is no killing.
ReplyDelete1) What impression did this video leave for you of the ruins of the Colosseum?
ReplyDeleteAll I can think is dang, that is hella old! A friend of mine went to the Colosseum during winter break and told me about it, but it helps to be able to see a clear video of the building instead of just pictures.
2) What sorts of "games" did the Romans hold in the Colosseum? Why did they hold them?
Games for people to "show off their strength", or they would die.
3) Can you see any parallels (things that are similar to gladiators) in our moderns society? What and how?
Now it's not deadly, and not really even a game. It's called a Hollywood production.
It showed me that they used Gladiators for entertainment. Kind of how we today watch MMA(Mixed Martial Arts) to entertain us with violence. They fought lions and humans with weapons, like daggers, tridents, and swords.
ReplyDelete1. I was wondering what did they fight back in that colosseum and what part of the colosseum they had to repair for it to be open to the public.
ReplyDelete2. Fighting with weapons like tridents and fishnets.
3. We have stuff like MMA fights and boxing.
1.)the Colosseum seems big and holds lots of history of difficult times
ReplyDelete2.) gladiator fighting
3.)its kinda like the united city in a way because things have happened with in the united states that cant be described as difficult times in history.
1. It made me sad that people were fighting animals because that's never ok. Animals are people to whether you like it or not.
ReplyDelete2. Fighting games with weapons and pitch forks (Tridans) and nets to hit people and catch them. Also big heavy swords.
3. Yeah the war and people fighting all over the place. Also, within the last four years many fights include dogs, chicken fights and many other bad ILLEGAL THINGS happening.
1. It made me want to go see the Colosseum.
ReplyDelete2. They had many fighting games. A lot of them were man on man or man on animal. They were the entertainment at the time.
3. There are many similarities. It is exactly like any other huge stadium we have in the world to watch sports games or concerts.
Firefox quit on me so I'll make this shorter than last time:
ReplyDeleteThe Colosseum is grand, it's like WOAH.
They played the boating games, the gladiators, animal fighting etc etc.
Yeah I'm pretty sure you can look at any mall on black friday sales day along with an already everything halfprice off and you'll see something dreadfully similar.
Or you could look at the average household. XD
I really didn't have an impression till they said that the kept slave up under the Colosseum,So it was like kind of sad or shocking to to know that they did that.
ReplyDeletethey played a lot of fighting games, like sords fighting, fighting with nets, an fighting with pitch forks.
not really or I didn't really see them.
1. It didn't leave much of an impression on me. But I did think that the gladiators fought even though they knew they would die was interesting.
ReplyDelete2. Gladiators would fight other people and animals, like tigers and lions. Also, slaves would fight for their freedom. They would do this in front of a million people cheering and screaming.
3. I don't see any parallels.
It gave me the impression that there are many stories in the building of ancient rome.
ReplyDeleteThey held the games for slaves that wanted freedom.

-There is a lot of fighting.
1) What impression did this video leave for you of the ruins of the Colosseum?
ReplyDeleteThat people were scared for their lives when they walked into there. They were walking in not knowing if they were going to come out alive.
2) What sorts of "games" did the Romans hold in the Colosseum? Why did they hold them?
They bring in animals & gladiators.. some slaves were fighting for freedom, and they had a fear that they were not going to come out alive.
3) Can you see any parallels (things that are similar to gladiators) in our moderns society? What and how?
Mmh, I think.. Yeah I guess, because wars are kind of like that. Your helping fight, but at the same time you're risking you life. .. ?
1. It's really old and big. Looks like it is crumbling. Made out of stone, rock, etc...
ReplyDelete2. Gladiator Battles with each other or wild animals a beasts for entertainment.
3. We now a days don't force "slaves" to fight for their freedom.
1. The impression this video left me with is wow i did not know some of them were slaves and were fighting to be free if they won.

This video did a good job of illustrating the vast complexity and size of this piece of architecture. It really made me think about how such an ancient civilization could erect such a structure.
ReplyDeleteThe Colosseum was used for many events as it provided a large stage with many seats. However, the most popular event was the fighting of the gladiators: slaves swordfighting for a chance at freedom. Often, vicious and exotic animals were thrown into the mix.
I do see parallels between ancient roman society and our society in this regard. We still have stadiums where games are held. The only difference is the number of deaths.
1) That it is very old there but very scary to and different.
ReplyDelete2) They fight and try to kill the animals and fight off each other. People would spend their time watching people fight. They flooded it and had a navel fight.
3) Well it reminds me of football they sit there and watch people fight and that's like how we watch people play games now a days.
1)The video left me an impression that I didnt know that know some of the fighter who was slaves to fight for freedom.
ReplyDelete2)Fighting games against animals and humans

1. The video didn't really leave an impression on me. But what I think of the Colosseum is that its really old.
ReplyDelete2. They made slaves fight against animals and gladiators would fight in the Colosseum.
3. Kind of but not really. I think our modern society's gladiators are like boxers and football players...i think.
That it was more than fun and games. it was savage battle.
ReplyDeleteThey had battles and games in the Colosseum.
Not really but people are always trying to fight.
That the battles were more than just games. people killed.
ReplyDeleteBattles and gladiators that killed eachother.
Not really we dont host things like that.
1) It was exquisite.
ReplyDelete2) Battles, for entertainment
3) Yeah things such as the building and stuff
