Setting the stage for World War II

[warmup]
There are four major issues facing Germany (and most of europe) after WWI. Based on what you learned Friday list all four then explain what they mean and why Germany/Europe was suffering. Lastly, explain how each of these issue might lead to more violence. If you get stuck use your notes from Friday.

example
1) Sea attacks- Many sharks on both sides died. Germany and Europe were suffering because of these deaths. More violence might be around the corner because all that killing leads to fear and mistrust, which in turn might bring back more violence.
2)
3)
4)

[learning objectives]
Who was Adolf Hitler?
What did National Socialist German Workers' Part (Nazi Party) want?
How did the rise of Nazism happen?
How did the Nazis rule?

  2. The Germans lost the first World War and they had to pay for it by giving up land and reducing their armies. So, naturally they got really angry and vengeful and for some reason they blamed the Jews and then World War II began.

  3. 1) When people feel poor, when their country is in the dumps, everyone is kinda grouchy. This along with the fact that many people became jobless/homeless lead to more street fights bar fights etc.
    2) I guess many people were on edge, not just in towns but against other countries, they were always fearing they would attack again.
    3) If you're looking for a job, and you can't find one, there were a lot of raids and blah blah.
    Thass all I remember yo.
Adolf Hitler was a man who wanted to get into art school, then after deciding that his country was dead he wanted to take it over again. The Nazi's wanted this too, and tried to take of the government in a heist attempt. It didn't work at all. Then Hitler thought of a better way, he decided to go through elections and become an official party. The Nazi's rose to power through a democratic system. After the people of Germany heard what the Nazis wanted, the people agreed to a fascist/socialist(?) (I remember someone saying they're socialist, though I doubt it) regime. The Nazi's ruled in a strict military way.
At least that's what I remember. Ha ha the first half is probably 100% wrong. I'm just waiting for the two minutes to let up.I just looked it up, Nazis were fascist. Isn't socialism closer to communism? Hrm. GOOGLE. Oh hey, communism is conservative, while socialism is liberal. I knew it.

  4. The treaty of versailles was when the places around germany made them sign a thing that said they had to pay for the war, and they wouldn't be able to have a good army, only a weak one. They were banned from some high powered weapons, and there was no work. they had to give up a bunch of land in varies places. Germany went into inflation, there were stacks of money everywhere, and it was pretty much worthless because they kept printing it. Over all the German people are probably suffering, and angry. They were looking for a way out of this, well they needed a way, but they needed a good strong leader to show them the way. Which is why I think Hitler came to full power so easily because he was a powerful speaker, and his image way very powerful, with all the flags, and troops. I think I remember he started making things better in Germany, but then he decided to kill all the jews which sucked.

  5. 1.Casualties: Many people died and Germany had to pay for the war, because they lost.
    2. Treaty of Versailles: Their army was taken away they couldn't have bombs or gases and give up land and pay for the war.
    3. The Great Depression: This was caused, because Germany had to pay for the war and so they had less money which caused everyone to be poor and lose jobs.
    4. Inflation: This caused the value of the dollar to go down it went from $4 german dollors = one American dollar to 1 Trillion dollars = one American dollar.

  12. Militarism
    Alliances
    Internal dissent
    Nationalism

I think those are the 4 main reasons why war started. All countries wanted the biggest most powerful military. Countries where allied and created 2 opposing forces because of that. Leaders of countries distracted their citizens from the problems that were going on within the country and blamed it on other countries. Nationalism, citizens believed their country was the best so they had to fight in order to prove it.

  13. 1.The Treaty with Versailles- The Germans signed the treaty because they lost the war and Versailles wanted to punish the Germans.
2.Inflation- Germans used to have a lot of money but when they owed money when they lost the war they started to print their money, therefore making it useless.
    3. The Great Depression- 1 in 4 people were unemployed 4 in 10 in Germany and they had over production with no one to buy up all the products.
    4. A lot of people died in WWI. More people died than ever before. 8.5 million deaths and 21 million wounded.

  15. - All the people that died.
    - The treaty of Versailles
    - Inflation in Germany.

Hitler was an Austrian-born German politician and the leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party.

The party's last leader, Adolf Hitler, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president Paul von Hindenburg in 1933. Hitler rapidly established a totalitarian regime[5][6][7][8] known as the Third Reich.

  18. 1) Hitler to full responsibility for the war: he was the one to start it.
2)They can't have control of the poison gases, airplanes, tanks: Germans started it and the others had to let them pay for what they did, by starting war.
3)Only allowed 100,000 men: being punished.

    - Hitler is a dictator of the Nazi & Germans.
    - Power
    -
    - They rule everything as they said or thought! They never follow the rules.
