Re-remembering
[warmup]
You'll have time to work on your World War II newsreels in class today but before we go forward lets look back...
Two weeks about we learned about the issues facing German that led to the rise of Hitler and World War II. Last Monday as the warmup I asked you to review/remember these issues. Did it stick? Well here is the same question. What are the four major issues facing Germany (and most of Europe) following World War I? This time I am looking for concise answers so try to fully explain your answer to this question in under 140 characters (like a tweet).

ReplyDeleteLoss, inflammation, shame, repressed, anger.
ReplyDeleteThe treaty of versailles, Germany had to pay for the war can't have an army, or good weapons. The great depression was going on at this time, which caused inflation. 1/2 the people in germany didn't have jobs so they turned to a strong speaking leader, Hitler. Who was named chancellor but eventually just took over Germany completely. He actually did improve things, but he also did horrible things clearly.
ReplyDeleteCasualties: There were many deaths and Germany had to pay for it. The Treaty of Versailles: Caused Germany to lose their army and they couldn't have any weapons. They also had to take responsibility for the war and pay a lot of money. Inflation was a big problem too. The dollar became less valuable. Were one American dollar cost a trillion German dollars. The also had Economic downturns. Their was less jobs for people.
ReplyDeleteGreat depression: Everyone pulled there stocks out of the bank and almost all the population became unemployed,
ReplyDeleteInflation: Money became worthless, the price of things went way up. Casualties: Is when a lot of people began to die and people thought it was the Germans fault and made them sign the treaty.
Treaty of versailles: They made the Germans sign this which made the Germans very angry ! Soo these are the four major issues facing Germany
One of the reasons WWll started was the Great Depression. Everyone pulled their stocks out of the bank and almost all of the population became unemployed. Then, inflation occurred. Money became worthless. The price of things skyrocketed. Before all of this, the number of casualties also made people mad. Since everyone thought it was all the German's fault, they made them sign the Treaty of Versailles, which angered them.

ReplyDeleteThere were four major issues following WWI: Worldwide economic collapse, massive german inflation, the treaty of Versailles, and ????
ReplyDeleteIt involved everyone
ReplyDeleteAllies and axis were the two groups
WW1 had left europe devastated. More people died thane ever before.
8.5 million with 21 million wounded
The losers have to pay (mainly germans)
Treaty of Versailles
They signed after WW1 to punish the germans
Germans took full responsibility for war
They had to pay the cost of the war (ABOUT $400 BILLION DOLLARS IN TODAYS ECONMY)
They had to make their army small (100,000)
Could not own poison gas, airplanes, tanks
Could have a full army
Very small navy with fewer ships
They had to give up land
They gave up land in africa
Also in Europe
Inflation in Germany
if we were to go to german with one dollar and ask for a trade they would give us a trillion dollars.. only because their prices were so high.
Great Depression
a whole bunch of countries went through a bad downturn of the economy
25% of america didn’t have jobs
in germany they had a 40% of people who didn’t have jobs
The Great Depression:
ReplyDeleteEveryone was poor and everything sucked.
Inflation in Germany:
It sucked the most for Germany because of the treaty of Versailles.
Treaty of Versailles:
Saying Germany had to take all the responsibility for the deaths of everyone in WW1.
The stupid thing with the submarines:
